Free Games Download Site Predicts 2013 Surge

October 30, 2012

Free games download site, My Real Games has just revealed its predictions for 2013, suggesting that the seemingly unstoppable popularity of online gaming will develop at an even faster rate over the next 12 months.

The site revealed that it had achieved a record-breaking 12 million page impressions per month in July, with 4 million unique visitors. What's more, 66% of its visitors returned within the month to download free games. Just three months later, the number of page impressions has grown substantially increasing by 7% while the number of unique visitors has soared by a massive 17%. The US and UK are leading the way in visits, with an increase of 25% and 17% respectively.

Nikolai Veselov from MyRealGames.com said, "The buzz around online gaming this year is only the beginning. We feel incredibly confident that 2013 will bring even bigger and better things for online gaming and we are already starting to prepare the site to handle even more visitors. We expect our page impressions to hit 20 million per month before the end of the first quarter. Demand is now so great that we add several additional free PC games each week, adding to our existing library of around 200 free titles. With every day that passes technology becomes more tightly integrated into our daily lives and online gaming is really reaping the rewards."

The popularity of online gaming is such that it now surpasses traditional sports. In a report published earlier this year by Forbes Magazine, it was found that more people tuned in to watch the 2012 Major League Gaming's Spring Championship than the Rose Bowl. The first round of the NBA Playoffs and the NCAA Basketball Tournament lost out two to one, posting just half the viewing figures of the video games tournament.

Mr Veselov added, "In Asia, eSports are booming and there are calls for online video gaming to be made an official sport. The Taiwanese government has already faced calls to recognise online gaming in its legislation and we predict other nations to follow suit. Chinese players in particular are massive fans of addicting games like Call of Atlantis and Rich Cars 2: Adrenaline Rush but countries like the USA and UK are close behind. In one recent tournament in the United States, winners walked away with $1 million in prize money, which will only serve to encourage more and more players into the game."

MyRealGames splits its free PC games into categories, allowing site visitors to easily find their preferred genre. There are ten categories for users to choose from including action, sports, racing, puzzle and card games. This user friendly interface means gamers can easily download free games in their preferred style as they are added to the site. Analysts suggest that there is a distinct split in the style of games ruling in the marketplace. They point to the success of relatively simple card games such as poker but also recognize the impact of adventure games which create whole new ecosystems for players to construct their own identities and go on quests. Multi-player games are also increasingly popular, pointing to a clear shift in the way society socializes.

MyRealGames have also noted a similar pattern with new questing games quickly racking up downloads as soon as they hit the site - Call of Atlantis is one recent example. It sends players out to explore the ancient lands of the Mediterranean in a unique mix of Match-3, Hidden Object and Adventure genres. Hitting the site a few weeks ago, it is already one of the most downloaded games on the domain.

Recent additions to the site include a mix of genres - an important element in satisfying the increasingly more sophisticated online gamer. New titles include Fun and Bullets, Exotic Farm, Bird Valley, the popular PC download Mystery of Nostradamus, racing game Rich Cars 3: Hustle and Donkey Sean, an exciting adventure game in which sees Sean and his barnyard buddies go on a trip the big city. Once there, Donkey Sean falls head over heels in love with a beautiful singer named Lily and embarks on a journey to win her heart and bring her home. It is one of an increasing number of downloads available for iPad use.
